Lick is a night for 'girls-who-love-girls'. We don't just only say the 'L' word, it's dedicated to all girls that just simply, loves girls.
So ladies, this night is for you. What can you expect at a Lick night?
Entertainment, fun, laughter, our two infamous and popular competitions 'Lap-Dance Off' & 'The Hottest Kiss Award', amazing prize giveaways, girls of all looks and walks, the gay, the bisexual, the bi-curious, the femme, the boyish, the lipstick, we welcome you all (yes, we even welcome your 'man-bags').
Dance the night away in one of our two huge music rooms, Electro / Commercial House in the front room and R&B / Hip Hop in the back room to cater to all tastes and likes.
Lick is supported by an amazing clothing label, Moosh83. Moosh83 is a gay owned and operated street wear label with ready-to-wear tee's and hoodies. At every Lick event you will see our Lick dancers and models geared up in this label in routines choreographed by 'So You Think You Can Dance' favourite, Demi Sorono.
Relax on the comfy couches, have a Lick shot, enjoy the entertainment, choose what style of music you feel like dancing to, enjoy the 'pink' surroundings and join us on a night where us girls can come together and have a good, safe night amongst other like-minded girls.
Lick is proudly supported by Moosh83, Bound Magazine, Black Diamond Hummers, UrbanBox Photography, OnEdge Adventures, The Glasshouse Hotel, Chicks World TV & Shocolate (Fitzroy)

Saturday 19th December 2009.
The event sells 95% of tickets before the weekend of the first ever Lick night. A night never been done before has finally come to Melbourne. A night that was remembered and never forgotten.
A line formed at the front doors at 8.30pm. The doors opened at 9pm. A line was still in existence at 1.30am. Some waited for hours.
What do you get when you invite a couple hundred girls into a popular lesbian institution, throw in an all-girl hip hop dance crew, sexy females geared up in hot clothing labels Ed Hardy & Moosh83 strutting with attitude up and down a runway, a dash of drag king action by Melbourne favourite Rocco D'Amore, a sassy vocal performance by Hedkandi & Love Machine's darling Miss Sarah C. with music taken care of by DJ Kat & Alia's queen of Thursday nights, Miss Beats?
At the door you were greeted by a Jeep Wrangler decked out in Ed Hardy to get you in the mood for what came in the night ahead. When you walked through the doors you were given a choice of three different coloured wristbands based on your status, red for taken, green for single, and amber for, well we haven't figured that out yet. Maybe if your heartbroken or in a complicated situation (lets face it girls, isnt that most of us?), then you would have chosen the amber one.
Did you want to take something home? You could have tried winning one of our two competitions. Prizes that were up for grabs were a $100 Coles Myer Voucher, 1 x night's stay in a 1 Bedroom Deluxe Apartment at the Somerset Gordon Place on Little Bourke Street (bring your own cuddle buddy) worth $365, an Ed Hardy cap worth $250 and a Moosh83 t-shirt of your choice worth $50. What were these two competitions, I hear you say? A Lap-Dance Off was first up, our host Demi Sorono hand-picked three willing and eager ladies from the crowd to come up and showed our dancers how lap dancing was really done. Our second competition; grab your girlfriend, your friend with benefits, or your cuddle buddy, and try and win our Hottest Kiss Award. You and your kissee got 15 seconds to please and tease the crowd like what Madonna & Britney did at the MTV Awards. If the crowd likes you better than the three other couples, youll be serenading your lover in your 1 bedroom deluxe room, flaunting your hot Ed Hardy hat and Moosh t-shirt.

Natalie also has worked on over a hundred television commercials for both the Australian and International markets, local drama such as 'Stingers', 'The Secret Life Of Us', 'Blue Heelers' and currently works on Channel Seven's popular television drama series, 'City Homicide' since 2008.
Natalie came up with the concept of 'Lick' four years ago but timing was never right then to pursue the idea. The aim behind creating a new night for 'girls-who-love-girls' is to bring a fresh, new concept that has never been done before. 'I want to get girls from all walks of life and looks in the one vicinity, get them all smiling, talking, laughing and interacting without the 'cliqueyness' and bitchiness that you can get in the lesbian scene. A night where we can all celebrate our community and our mutual love of girls'.
Look for Natalie on stage, meeting and greeting in the crowds and behind the scenes at the next Lick.
One dancer that stood out in 2008's So You Think You Can Dance that we have all grown to love was Melbourne female street dancer and hip-hop performer, Demi Sorono. From over 3000 contestants, 20 dancers were chosen to compete in the elimination series and Demi danced her way to the top four and has now established herself as a prominent figure in the Australian dance scene.
Demi Sorono aka Demolition B-Girl is originally from the Philippines. Since the age of 7 years Demi has embraced the Melbourne hip hop scene. Her passion for dancing and hip hop culture has led her to a place where she is an inspiration to young women through her performing and teaching abilities. Demi has had over 6 years experience in popping, locking, breaking, hip hop, funk and just in the last two years learning the fundamentals of milking, krumping, stripping, shaking and clowning. She has also managed to feature as a dancer in music video dance clips such as, Kyle 'Turn it Up', Isreal 'Old Skool Luv' and Diafrix 'Hold On'.
Demi fell in love with hip hop and break-dancing after watching Run DMC's music video clip, remix It's Like That', featuring b-boy superstar, AsiaOne. In 2004 Demi took herself to LA to check out the worlds best b-boys at Freestyle Session 5. Shes been a part of The Movement Hip Hop Crew since 2005, which included gigs at the Big Day Out with Digital Primate and Queen Khadeeja, dancing with Wicked Force Breakers as support acts with TV Rock for Rogue Traders, and performing at the Indigenous Dreaming Festival. She also won the 2005 Australasian B-Girl Supremacy Competition in Wellington, New Zealand and currently plays a ninja character on SBS television series 'Prank Patrol'.
Demi will bring her fresh, hard-hitting and extremely sexy dance choreography to the stages of many many Lick night's to come.

Will there be tickets available on the night?
Most likely yes. We offer the option of ticket presales as with the first Lick event we sold out the day before the event and had to make guests wait out the front until we were able to fit more in. However, we have sourced a bigger venue and there will be limited tickets that we will allocate to be available at the door.
What is Lick anyway?
Woman. Go to the 'About Lick' tab down the bottom left of your screen and have a read.
What's the go with these status wristbands?
At the door you will be offered a choice of three different coloured wristbands; red for 'taken', green for 'single' and amber/orange for 'it's complicated/proceed with caution' (whatever you wish to make of this colour). They are not compulsory, more like a fun novelty thing we do, innocently of course :)
Are your sexy dancers and models single?
Maybe. Just ask them. They won't bite, they just nibble :)
I'm really looking forward to the night!
That wasn't really a question! But me too!
So... what happens when I purchase online?
When you buy tickets through paypal online you will automatically receive an email confirmation of your transaction and the amount of tickets purchased. Your booking details will be at the door on the night.
What if my group is not able to arrive together?
That is fine. We will have a record of how many tickets are purchased by your group and will tick you off as you enter. We may ask for names of your remaining party to ensure that no one tries to do a 'sneaky'.
What do you mean, do a 'sneaky'?
Nevermind. I was just saying.
Do I need to bring a printout of my transaction receipt?
For safety it wouldnt hurt, but we will have your name and ticket booking listed at the door.
Is there a dress code?
No. Come as you are, dress to impress, be who you are proud of being. The venue however has a strict 'no thongs' policy.
Are guys allowed to come?
We won't say no to your lovely male friends. They are welcome as your guests.
i have another question! (email lick here)
ok thank you. please take me back to that other page now.

She was heavily influenced by the friends and amazing artists that surrounded her and in turn her musical taste began to reflect this.
A little nudge from a veteran on the decks found Nugget playing her first record in early 2005 and from that moment was hooked. She took to the decks quite naturally and found that her previous life as a drummer helped her DJ'ing enormously. Her foray into clubs happened by accident on xmas night 2006 when she was handed the decks in the toilets at Honkytonks to fill in for a friend. It was also on this night that Nugget met Danni B from Tickled Pink which she would go on to hold a residency at for the next few years.
Since that fateful night Nugget has developed her technique and sound through many genres and loves to play a little bit of everything but is a massive sucker for a good bass line. She has played at numerous Melbourne's clubs including Lounge, Escobar, Revolver, Circus, Wah Wah, Ffour, La Di Da, Room 680, Roxanne Parlour & Cushion and has supported international DJ's including Claude Von Stroke & Phil Kieran.
She also made her festival debut earlier this year tearing it up at Kiss My Grass 2010.
Nugget credits the Melbourne music scene and the DJ's and artists within it as the major and continuing influence on her career.
From an early age Nugget was heavily influenced by music. She was a talented musician in her younger years and playing a number of instruments. The drums became her focus and she played in a number of bands keeping the beats. A lover of most genres of music the crossover into electronic music was a natural progression as she began to spend more time in Melbourne's clubs.

Nancy emailed:
"I wanted to say thank you to you and let you know that all the work you and the girls put into Lick was well worth it and was appreciated. I did see the first performance and really enjoyed it, it's nice seeing a show where the girls performing have got talent and working the crowd.
Well I shall be keeping my ear out for the next Lick and will bring a few more friends with me next time.
(Libation) is where I have seen DJ ISH. I found her on facebook and I told her how much I loved her set. She is well worth flying down from Brisbane, her music was pumping. I didn't get to see the last DJ but the cute blonde one doing her thing was also really good (DJ Nugget).
It just made my friend and I feel good that Demi didn't mind busting some moves and that she was happy enough to be part of the Lick crowd, I did see her sister Loz do her thing on stage and on the dancefloor. Might have to get her to give me some lessons.
Thanks for replying to my e-mail, take care and keep up the awesome work for us girls.
I have some feedback for you from my friend who also went to Lick:
Tell her it was one of the best girls nights i've been to in a long time. The music was fantastic......"

DJing is as much an art form, as it is entertainment; finding the right records to move the dancefloor is one thing, but giving audiences something to take away from the experience is quite another. Katie Drover knows how to take people to that next level. In the 8 years since her first professional gig, this Melbourne DJ has injected her performances with a captivating energy and passion that's made her an immediate standout in a city already blessed with incredible record-spinning talent.
A prodigious musical talent, Drover immersed herself in music from an early age, playing piano and saxophone and having a strong passion for classical music and jazz & blues. Katie's insatiable musical hunger meant she'd soon discover a liking for Lounge, Trip Hop and Acid Jazz, revelling in the likes of Tricky and downbeat masters Portishead and Massive Attack.
In 1998 as a 16 year old, Drover's desire to have her own proper slice of the dance music action led her to sneak into infamous suburban club Wild Bills, where veteran DJ Ivan Gough would regularly spin. Legendary techno club Teriyaki was also on the Katie's hit list around this time. But like so many Generation Y DJs, Carl Cox sealed the deal for her in 2001, with a blistering set at the 2001 Big Day Out.
Once she'd hit legal age, Drover scored herself a job working in the cloak room of the newly opened Room 680. Every Saturday night she's soak in the sounds of Melbourne luminaries Sean Quinn, Kasey Taylor and Sam Fraser. She was hooked. After moving in with a DJ in early 2002, the music-mad girl nagged her room mate to show her the ropes and by September this year she was playing her first gig at Room.
With a natural flair for blending a divergent array of sounds into one seamless flow, Katie's impact was instantaneous. Encompassing the full breadth of the house genre from tech, minimal, deep, disco and electro she'd drop it all, drawing influence from everyone from Billie Holiday and Charlie Parker, to Derrick Carter and Stacey Pullen.
A favourite amongst Melbourne's punters, Katie currently holds an enviable list of residencies, knocking out the goods at One Six One, Wah Wah, Bimbo Deluxe and one of Melbourne's biggest Saturday nights, Sorry Grandma. Her ever-growing popularity also ensures she's a regular at many other Melbourne and interstate parties with massive appearance at Godskitchen in 2006, SummaDayze 2007, 2008, 2009 and again this year, Falls Festival 2007 and 2008, Future Music Festival 2008 and the Sydney Mardi Gras ensuring she has the dancefloor's seal of approval.
Her big name support slots are no less impressive, having been billed alongside the likes of Roger Sanchez, Felix da Housecat, Paolo Mojo, Nic Fanciulli, Spirit Catcher, Josh Wink, Alex Kid and Sebastien Leger to name just a few.
An artist whose passion for dance music spreads far and wide, Katie also hosts 'It Is What It Is' on Kiss FM every Saturday Night at 8pm, alongside Keltec, with the duo dropping the finest home-grown and international slices of dance each week. Drover also hosts her own monthly show 'Speaker Syrup' on renowned US online radio station, Proton Radio and was the guest presenter on Triple J's 'The Club' with her mixes also being regularly featured on the program.
Few would disagree that the sky's the limit for Katie Drover. With production being next on her list of things to conquer, her stubborn determination to succeed will no doubt see her break boundaries on and off the dancefloor
